1. Your windshield helps keep you safe
Your windshield provides important safety functions in case of an accident. Preexisting damage could undermine its ability to stay in place during a serious collision or rollover, making it more likely that you'll be ejected from your auto. The windshield also helps provide an important part of your vehicle's structural integrity, since it can help keep the roof from caving in on you and your passengers in case of an accident. 2. The cost may be less than you think
In many cases, your auto insurance company will waive the deductible if you have your windshield repaired. And in some states, you won't have to pay a deductible for windshield repair or replacement if you have comprehensive auto insurance. Check with your auto insurance agent to find out about the coverage in your state and under your particular policy.
3. You may be sacrificing visibility
Chips, cracks, or small pits in your auto glass can directly interfere with your field of vision as you drive. Even under ideal weather conditions, this isn't a good idea.
